Connie is a ball of confidence and tells us she was born on the Lower East Side of Chinatown (New York) “the Year of the Chicken”, which would make her 31 at the time of the original musical's opening. It is stated that if the actress is not Asian, they will introduce themselves as ‘Connie Edna May Sue MacKenzie’, and ‘pass herself off as 21’. She would tell us she was born on Groundhog Day in Greenville, North Carolina.
We find out Connie has been a performer since the age of 5 and idolised ballerina Marina Tallchief, however her height would never allow her to be one, same goes for cheerleading. Connie is enthusiastic about everything thrown at her, is incredibly passionate about dance and her future and seems to have her life together along with her husband.
I have put Connie in a royal blue two-piece that’s a sports bra top with ¾ zip at front with leotard bottoms to reflect her love for cheerleading and to show she’s experienced with auditions by wearing appropriate attire. She will have her hair up in a high ponytail and be wearing slip-on nude jazz shoes. In addition to her costume, I’d like there to be a tutu visible coming out of her open kit bag if seen at any point in the show as a nod to her idol Marina Tallchief.
