Bobby is 25 and grew up near Buffalo, New York although claims they can’t remember the name of their hometown because they “blocked it out”.
Born Robert Charles Joseph Henry Mills III I decided to in this revival to make Bobby transgender based on their backstory. Bobby had an unusual upbringing with their mother gambling and cheating on their father and their father was a big sports hero before becoming an alcoholic. Bobby much to their dads’ disappointment was not good at traditional sports and often told their sports friends that their son had polio to avoid awkwardness.
Because their parents were so distracted Bobby spent their time breaking into strangers houses and rearranging furniture. When not causing upset they enjoyed hosting “bizarre” musicals in their parents' garage in their spare time and since moving out has turned their life around with becoming transgender and seems much happier.
I have put Bobby in an outrageously pink long-sleeved leotard with a simple black choker necklace because this is their first coming out into the world through this audition and paired this with high waisted jazz pants and character shoes to tone down the pink a bit because they wouldn't want to be too in your face with being so new to being accepted as Bobby.
